Bungle Bungle Ranges

This week on Zoey’s expedition, I was rushing to make the plane to my next destination but when I arrived at the terminal I saw my plane taking off. I couldn’t believe what was happening, I..missed my flight. I ordered a new flight to tomorrow in the afternoon. The flight attendant arranged a hotel with me and I researched on what to do. I saw that I could go to a school so I got the directions and cycled to Purnululu Aboriginal Community School.

There a lady called Jedda and she taught me how to play the didgeridoo. When I was confident enough I played in a ceremony to a song called Balganyawhich is very sacred to the hollow frogs who were the people helping run the place.

Jedda told dream time stories about the earth moving, tribes hunting however my favourite was the story of the rainbow serpent that caused heavy rain. If you think of yourself as someone who loves stories this is the place for you. WE also looked at some paintings and the art works were at lot like this.

I found out that the bungle bungle is very important because when aborigines name things twice it means it is very memorable. Did you know that Purnululu in aborigine it means sandstone which is what the bungle bugle ranges are made from.

I would like to thank the student and teachers of Purnululu Aboriginal Community Schoolfor showing me you culture.
