Elmina

I walked from the taxi into Elmina Bay Resortand to make the most of my time, I scavenged through my luggage and on my way to St. George’s castleI saw some rundown farmers. I offered to help and they said yes and then I became a Willing Worker On Organic Farms. The job was full of hard work and the sun rays was like little needles going into my back, this job is not that suitable for children but if you love farming this is where you can go.

I thanked the farmers for the wonderful experience and rushed home to change out of my sweaty clothes. When I arrived at St. George’s Castleand I was late for the tour and missed a few rooms but that was okay. I loved looking at the old buildings and learning the history of buildings and how it came to be.

UNESCO is protecting St. George’s Castleby using framework so the building doesn’t collapse, which is amazing how they came up with the idea and that it is making this site a cultural site. You may be wondering what does UNESCO stand for well it stands for United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation.

Did you know that St. George’s Castle  is the oldest European built to the south of Sahara, it was used for trading post for gold and ivory. When new colonies the castle became a slaving trading centre. The houses could also home over 1000people.
